Instead of telling my own version of things, I present to you some clips of correspondence with Elena, a friend of mine who lives in Russia. Without her, this portion of the site would not have been. Thanks very much, Elena! . To begin with, we didn’t have many HB books here. Thirty or so at the most, usually with two stories in one book. They stopped publishing the series in 19 . The series title in Russian is, in Latin characters, “Rebyata Hardy” and later “Bratya Hardy." Rebyata means guys, and Bratya means brothers. . The first volume published in Russia was a three-in-one edition (The Tower Treasure, House on the Cliff, and Spiral Bridge). Others came packaged as two-in-one volumes and Sovershenno released a special collection called "The Last Stories," ten two-in-one volumes that marked the termination of the series. These volumes were the only uniform titles in the language. Whether 'last' refers to latest or final is unsure. . .
