While not the first teaming up of the Hardys and Nancy Drew, this series was the first to have them meet up for more than a "short story" like the Campfire or Be a Detective editions. Agreed upon by almost all fans to be "Nancy-centric," the series had the three meeting up in all sorts of places (Japan -- Salt Lake City -- Australia). There was also a bit of romance (and a few kisses, dare I say?) between Frank and Nancy. Despite all this, these are some of my favorite 'modern' HB stories. There's plenty of action and a lot of description (re: Nightmare in New Orleans).
